11 October 2026

On October 8, as part of the University Capacity Building Program (UCBP), Professor Jennifer Murphy Romig of Emory University met with representatives of several schools at Free University of Tbilisi and the Agricultural University of Georgia.

During the first session, School of Law faculty joined Professor Romig to discuss best practices in teaching methods and assessment in legal education.

The subsequent sessions brought together university leadership, administrative staff, and representatives of various schools from both universities. Participants explored the opportunities and limitations of using generative AI in teaching and research, as well as the boundary between its responsible use and academic cheating. The wide-ranging, productive discussions provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and perspectives.

Participants included representatives of Free University of Tbilisi’s Business School, School of Governance and Social Sciences, Graduate and Doctoral School, School of International Relations, and Research Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, as well as the Agricultural University of Georgia’s School of Natural Sciences and Biotechnology, School of Veterinary Medicine, and School of Agronomy and Landscape Management.

Following the sessions, participants attended Agro Fair 2026, where students in the Agricultural University of Georgia’s bachelor’s program in Agronomy presented their agricultural projects. Students introduced visitors to the annual crops they had grown independently in the demonstration plot on Kakha Bendukidze Campus, including tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants, sweet peppers, corn, melons, watermelons, and cabbage.

The UCBP is funded by the U.S. Embassy and administered by American Councils for International Education.
