organized another International Summer School (ISS) in July. Five
invited professors from Paul Cezanne, George Mason, Georgia/ West
Virginia, Marburg Universities and CATO Institute delivered lectures
for the participants of the ISS. The ISS 09 finished on 19th July. Topics of the school were Monetary Policy and Political Economy.
The Faculty
Pierre Garello
- Director of the Institute for Economic Studies-Europe and director of
Research for the Institute for Research on Economic and Fiscal Issues
(IREF), professor of economics at Paul Cezanne University in
Aix-en-Provence, France, holds PhD in Economics from New-York
University.
Donald Boudreaux
- Chairman of Department of Economics at George Mason University. He
holds PhD in Economics from Auburn University and PhD in Law from
University of Virginia.
George Selgin - Professor of economics at University of West Virginia and University of Georgia, holds PhD from New York University.
Stefan Voigt
– Professor at the Department of Economics and Business Administration,
University of Marburg (Germany). He is the member of American Economic
Association and American Law and Economics Association.
Andrei Ilarionov - a senior fellow at the Cato Institute's Centre for Global Liberty and Prosperity. From 2000 to December 2005 was the chief economic adviser of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On 18th of July Mr. Bendukidze has delivered the lectures for the ISS 09 participants.
International Summer School had 50 participants from different spheres and with different backgrounds, thus the audience was quite diversified which helped a lot to carry on interesting discussions. Among the ISS 09 participants were public servants and officials, business sector representatives, students and researchers, members of different NGOs from Georgia as well as from Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Topics discussed during Summer School has caused the great interest of Georgian televisions and newspaper/magazines.
