Master’s Program in Operations Management - Description

An operations manager is responsible for overseeing the entire production cycle of a product or service and ensuring efficient delivery to customers. Their role involves optimizing production and delivery methods and improving business processes. To accomplish this, operations managers monitor and analyze daily business processes, quality standards, new technologies, and seek various ways to improve efficiency.

The objective of the Master's Program in Operations Management (MBA in OM) is to provide middle and senior managers, as well as analysts/consultants, with an environment where they can study operations management and its complementary disciplines. The program aims to:

  • Equip students with the skills necessary to design, plan, execute and control processes that ensure the delivery of desired products or services to customers.
  • Educate students on effectively creating, maintaining, managing and controlling business processes and operations that align with company objectives and customer requirements.
  • Prepare professionals capable of making informed decisions in complex and rapidly changing business environments.
  • Provide students with analytical and leadership skills relevant to operations management, enabling them to solve practical tasks and address challenges.
  • Provide knowledge essential for analyzing and developing business operations, along with skills to improve the quality, productivity and efficiency of these operations.

Upon successful completion of the 2-year program, the graduate is awarded the qualification - Master of Business Administration in Operations Management.

CURRICULUM

The curriculum for the Master's Program in Operations Management consists of 120 credits distributed across 4 modules, designed to fulfill the program's objectives.

The first module serves an introductory purpose covering the fundamental subjects essential for business studies. The subsequent three modules include subjects necessary for acquiring theoretical knowledge and developing practical skills in operations management, and mastering analytical research skills.

The program offers both mandatory and elective subjects. Free University of Tbilisi educational programs allocate a certain number of credits to elective subjects, thus allowing students the freedom to select subjects that better align with their interests.

Completion of the program requires students to prepare and present a diploma project. The project entails the application of acquired knowledge, problem identification, result-oriented decision formulation and utilization of research and analysis methods.

Who can apply?

Applicants with a background in any field of study are welcome to apply. To complete the application candidates must:

  • Overcome the minimum competence threshold for Unified Masters Examination
  • Have at least intermediate level English language competence
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point) at working level

Admissions Procedure

  • Registration on the National Examination Center website (naec.ge)
  • Passing Unified Masters Examination
  • Registration on the Free University website
  • Interview at Free University of Tbilisi

Selection Criteria

During the admission interview, candidates undergo evaluation of their critical and logical thinking skills, rooted in both quantitative and qualitative situation analysis, as well as assessment of their personal attributes. These assessments determine the candidate's motivation, leadership capabilities, and effective communication skills, all of which are vital prerequisites for business administrators.

The coefficient of the score obtained in the Unified Masters Examination is 0, and the coefficient of the interview of the Free University is 100.

Tuition Fee

For the 2024-26 academic year, the master's program fee is 4 quarterly payments of 1125 * 3 (variable) = 3375 GEL.

The master's student chooses the tuition payment scheme when signing the contract:

  • Four equal payments according to the basic payment scheme
  • Unequal monthly payments
