The research in theoretical astrophysics in the school of physics at the Free University of Tbilisi ranges from the study of nonrelativistic astrophysical flows to high energy astrophysical phenomena related to generation of ultra-high energy particles and gamma-rays. Among the active topics of research is particle acceleration and emission pattern generated by compact astrophysical objects: pulsars, active galactic nuclei and stellar mass black holes.
